\u2022 By insulating your ceiling, you can cool off your garage just like any other room in your home. Ceiling wallboard is not needed if paper-backed batt-insulation is used. Simply install the insulation with staples (paper side down) or you can choose to keep the insulation in place with netting made for that purpose. Staples are used to fasten the netting as well.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wall insulation is another great way of staving off summer heat and keeping our winter cold. Although wall insulation does not have to be covered, wallboard should be used to encapsulate the material.<\/p>\n
\u2022 You can also insulate the door itself. For an uninsulated metal door, add a two-inch layer of rigid insulation attached to the inside of each panel with contact cement. If budget permits an insulated sectional overhead door is the best alternative.<\/p>\n
\u2022 By slightly opening the garage doors about a foot from the floor can help cool the room off.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Adding a ceiling fan in the garage is another way to keep the air circulating and cool off the room.<\/p>\n
\u2022 You could attach an adjustable rollaway awning to the sunny side of the garage that will create shade in the summer.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Planting a tree that is located between the garage and the sun will once it is grown help cool off the garage in the hottest part of the day.<\/p>\n
